This quick, easy, 2 minutes chocolate donut glaze recipe is the only one you’ll ever need! It has a rich chocolate flavor without using chocolate and gives the donuts a glossy finish.
About This Recipe
When it comes to the perfect chocolate glaze for donuts, there are a few key elements to consider. A good chocolate glaze should have a smooth and glossy texture, a rich chocolate flavor, and the right consistency to coat the donuts evenly. And this chocolate donut glaze recipe has all of that!
The best part about this recipe is that you don’t need any chocolate to make it, just some good quality cocoa powder gives this chocolate donut glaze a rich chocolate flavor. This recipe is enough to glaze around 8 donuts.
I use this chocolate glaze all the time, and out of all the different flavors, chocolate is definitely the most popular. Here’s my fool-proof donut recipe, it makes soft and fluffy donuts every time.
What You Need To Make Chocolate Donut Glaze
Cocoa Powder: I used Dutch-processed cocoa powder for a more intense flavor, but regular cocoa powder will work just fine. Just make sure it’s a good quality cocoa powder for the best results.
Powdered sugar: also known as confectioner’s sugar or icing sugar.
Milk: you’ll just need a splash, heavy cream is a great substitute for this.
Vanilla extract: this is an optional ingredient, so if you don’t have it, just leave it out. This helps enhance the flavor of chocolate.
How To Make Chocolate Donut Glaze
Well, there’s only one step and that’s to combine all of your ingredients and give it a whisk until smooth. Dip your cooled donuts and you’re all done! Oh, don’t forget the best part….. sprinkles!
Pro Tips
- Remember that experimenting with different ratios of ingredients can help you achieve your desired taste and consistency. So feel free to adjust this basic recipe according to your personal preferences.
- To enhance the flavor of your chocolate glaze, consider adding vanilla extract or other flavorings like espresso powder or almond extract. These additions can give your glaze an extra depth of taste that complements the sweetness of the donuts.
- Turn this into a vanilla glaze by leaving out the cocoa powder and reducing the amount of milk you add to it.
